Cialis Product Information
General Information
CIALIS (Tadalafil), an oral treatment for erectile dysfunction,
is a selective inhibitor of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)-specific
phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5).
How it Works
When a man is sexually stimulated, his body‘s normal physical
response is to increase blood flow to his penis. This results in
an erection. Cialis helps increase blood flow to the penis
and may help men with ED get and keep an erection satisfactory
for sexual activity. Once a man has completed sexual activity,
blood flow to his penis decreases, and his erection goes away.
Unlike Viagra and Levitra, one dose of Cialis can remain effective from
12-36 hours!
Dosage Information
Take Cialis exactly as prescribed. For most men the
recommended starting dose prescribed is 10-20mg. Cialis should NOT be
taken more than once a day. Some men can only take a low dose or
this medicine because of medical condtions or medicines that
they take.
Possible Cialis Side Effects
The most common side effects with Cialis are:
- headache
- flushing
- stuffy or runny nose
- indigestion
- upset stomach
- dizziness
These side effects usually go away after a few hours. Talk to
your doctor if these side effects persist.
Warnings/Precautions
Do not take Cialis if you take any medicines called
"nitrates." Nitrates are commonly used to treat angina.
Do NOT take with isorbide (medicine used to relieve chest
pains). Do not
use recreational drugs called "poppers" like amyl nitrate and
butyl nitrate. Do not take medicines called alpha blockers. If Cialis is taken with alpha blockers, your blood pressure could
suddenly drop to an unsafe level and you could get dizzy and
faint. Do not take Cialis are allergic to Tadalafil. Do not take
Cialis if you have been told by your healthcare provider to not
have sexual activity because of health problems. Do NOT change
your dose of this medicine without talking to your doctor. Do
NOT DRINK alcohol to excess when taking this medicine (for
example, 5 glasses of wine or 5 shots of whiskey). When taken in
excess, alcohol can increase your chances of getting a headache
or getting dizzy, increasing your heart rate, or lowering your
blood pressure.
Overdose Information
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact
your local or regional poison control center.
Missed Dose Information
Follow dosing instructions. Cialis is used when needed
and not taken on a regular basis.
